A: Absolutely! Completing the workshop will earn you three graduate credits (MUED 689) through Northern Illinois University. Students interested in earning graduate credit for the workshop need to apply to NIU and be admitted as a current graduate student or as a student at large. Contact Mary Lynn Doherty at [email protected] for more information.
Q: Is housing offered? A: Yes! Housing for this year's workshop will be at the hotel within the Holmes Student Center, a short walk from the Music Building. Rooms are single occupancy and include a private bathroom, refrigerator , and microwave. Q: What are the refund policies?
A: Cancellation can be made before June 1st, with a full refund minus $50 processing fee. After June 1st, no refunds will be offered.
Q: What should I bring to the workshop?
A: Participants should bring scores for three selections. Please make a PDF of each selection for possible use throughout the week. Good repertoire can make your week at CMP an even richer experience—it is at the heart of what we do all week. Although we will spend quite a bit of time discussing what makes a good piece of music, if you have brought high quality music with you, you will begin the week that much further ahead. When in doubt, bring more pieces—the more music you have with you, the more chance that you’ll find a great piece to study. You will need a laptop computer or tablet device with internet, email, and word processing software. Instrumentalists and any singers who also play an instrument should bring them for our "demonstration rehearsals.”

Q: What should I do before the workshop begins to prepare?
A: Reviewing the first five chapters of Shaping Sound Musicians will introduce you to the CMP planning process. This book can be purchased from Amazon.com or through WMEA (Wisconsin Music Education Association). Participants should also respond to the repertoire discussions initiated by your small group leader. Participants will receive an email to join this discussion with your small group.
